SG50 NDP Preview

It is really an honor and great luck that pigg and I were able to go for the NDP Preview thanks to Sean! We always wanted to go for NDP show especially this year, Singapore's 50 years of Independence. Hence, we tried balloting and joining contests for the tickets before but to much disappointment. Finally! Extra tickets from Sean!



ONWARD SINGAPORE, MAJULAH SINGAPURA!


So heartwarming to see the sea of red, waving the Singapore flag with pride


It was really last minute that we received the tickets, so glad but also very regretful that we did not have the time to go home change into red and white





The weather was really scorching hot at 5pm, but that do not stop us from cheering for our country! 
The emcees did a great job in bringing up the hype by leading us in sing-alongs and the Padang wave!Sam Willows also serenaded the crowds with our classic- Home. I really feel very touched  when the crowd sang along to the classic national day songs. 


The show started with Chapter 1: Beginnings

We were all transported back to the era to relieve the journey our forefathers took, braving the storms and seas to seek fortunes and find a place to call their home here in Singapore. 

This scene also made me grateful for the peace and racial harmony we have in our country. 


Also, during the Vintage Parade, as our pioneers marched out proudly, we applaud and honour them for their contributions in building the nation.


Chapter 2: Progress

We were awed by the '50' aerial display and cheered on as the planes flew by




As the night gets darker, Chapter 3: Strength commences 

We would not enjoy peace and security in Singapore without the commitment of our SAF and HomeTeam. We salute them as the cutting edge capabilities make their grand entrance.



The crowd applauded and cheered loudly as Stefanie Sun took the stage with a medley of 
"We will get there" and "One united people"

I'm so glad to see her back on stage after so many years! Her voice still as beautiful as ever, truly Singapore pride!


Chapter 4: Unity soon started, as the ladies of SOKA blew us away with their swift color changing dresses and formations.






Chapter 5: Identity is where we celebrate our unique Singapore identities that are built on the values we all share as well as the things we are proud of and love

We will see 12 props representing Uniquely Singapore, like the Durian, Singa the Courtesy lion, Ice Kachang, Changi Airport, Chope! 
Corrine May also performed "Song for Singapore" on top of the dragon playground!


As the night goes on, we soon came to the last chapter: Onwards

Primary kids in bright neon outfits filled the stage, depicting the bright future of Singapore. Its really cute how they changed colors and became little stick men 







JJ Lin will come out to sing this year's theme song "Our Singapore!" though a double took his place during this rehearsal. We can anticipate his performance on the actual day (:

NDP 2015 soon came to an end with colorful fireworks splashing across the skies 






Being able to attend this year's NDP preview especially its SG50 too is really a great honor, I really enjoyed myself a lot as I sang along to the songs and cheered like a fan girl. 
I am truly proud to be a Singaporean!

Korea day 5

Time passes so fast when you are enjoying yourself. It is the fifth day in Korea. As usual, we packed up and left the resort in the morning to eat breakfast at the place we had our dinner the day before. I had quite a phobia that they will serve the fake "codfish" soup again as it does not taste nice at all. Luckily, the menu was beef stew soup but we do not eat beef so the soup was substituted with pork tonkatsu which is made with seafood. It does not taste appetising at all and I did not eat much as I am not used to eating rice for breakfast. I also hate having to eat mayonnaise with rice. It just tastes so...wierd...   After breakfast, we left for Everland. It opens at 9.30am but we reached there at about 10plus. We took a shuttle bus into the amusement park and took both group and solo photos at the entrance. Following that, we left to tour the park. Maki-San X Foodpanda

Literally rolled out of bed early for this Maki-San X FoodPanda event held at 112 Katong Maki-San's third outlet. Many thanks to Mich again for jio-ing me to this event since Paul could not make it  I've tried Maki-San once at their first Cathay outlet and I really enjoyed it and looked forward to rolling my own Makis at this event.  These days the trend is all about customization and insta-worthy food. Maki-San simply fulfill our need for novelty by allowing us to customize our very own makis with the toppings we like. Brown rice option is also available for the health conscious.  Really love the pretty and colorful packaging, which won several awards.  Even my friend brought home the boxes after eating > < Being early, we were the first to arrive at the event. We were given each a nice foodpanda apron to wear so that we will not dirty our clothes.    Mich is like a panda after suffering from insomnia last night ...

Mean Bean & Wicked Grind

After sending cousin off at Goldenmile for her coach to Kuala Lumpur, we decided to go check out Mean Bean & Wicked Grind cafe which is nearby, at The Plaza. From Goldenmile tower, The Plaza is straight up and around 10 minutes walk away. It is also just opposite Haji Lane which is quite accessible for us to go Bugis as we planned to watch a movie after checking out the cafe.  Upon reaching The Plaza, we were a little unsure if we were at the right place as it does not seem like where cafes normally should be. The reviews were accurate, this cafe is quite hard to find > <  All the stores there were mostly furniture stores or travel agencies, hence, we decided to check with the information desk. Much to our surprise, the counter staff knew almost immediately where we wanted to go and gave us directions that it is straight up inside. HOW ULU!  We finally found the cafe!
