Bibing Korean Dessert Cafe
Bibing Korean Dessert Cafe is really a hidden gem, hidden from our eyes as we had passed by many times before we finally found it. The location is really accessible, only 5 minutes walk from Chinatown but it really baffled us how we had missed the cafe having passed by many times and asking people while trying to find the place.
We finally found the cafe while we were opposite at the market, we recognized the reflection of the carpark through a photo that DanielFoodDiary posted. So thankful! I could not believe how silly we were, walking back and forth, and even thought that the cafe might have closed down...
The cafe is empty when we entered, perhaps having just opened at 12-ish,
The interior is very korean, simple white walls and nature inspired decor.
I like the trees especially, reminds me of the four seasons in Korea
Of course, we ordered their signature premium Bibim!
It took quite a while for them to prepare and I can understand why, this dessert is just like a piece of art, a very clever one indeed. I do not mind the waiting time since there are no other customers at the time, but please make it prettier (:
The presentation is really fancy, like a korean Bibimbap meal, with side dishes-ice cream, condensed milk and grape syrup? The Bibim is also very colorful, with different fruits and toppings such as almonds and oreo.
Its really amazing how they thought of replicating the egg of the Bibimbap-
by cleverly using yoghurt topped with a slice of peach for the yolk
Eat it the way you would eat your bibimbap, add the sauces, toppings and mix it all up!
Taste time! The shaved ice if not for some bigger chunks, is quite fine and melts in the mouth just nice. However, I feel that the flavor of the shaved ice is quite bland if not eaten together with the fruits. Most of the fruits are sour in nature, and it kind of reminds me of llao llao's sanum... fruits and yoghurt, really healthy and good for your digestive system (:
The price is quite high for a bingsu, but I guess it does not hurt to try at least once? I might return to try their melon bingsu since there will be a 20% off if you post a picture onto Instagram
