D'Good Cafe

Image
What's even better than to catch up with a 7 year long friend over good food, good coffee and good ambience? For that, we went all the way to D'Good Cafe at Holland Village. I have always wanted to try the food there and I finally had the time to do so and the right company to go with (:  We sat at the swing seats where we can get a view of the outside. It is really lucky that we got those seats. Actually, we came a little earlier than the people who came behind us, if not we would not have gotten the swing seats which are attractive for girls and couples.  Just chillin' and rockin' on the swing while waiting for our food to arrive  Damn good lighting too, of course, must selfie  We waited quite a while before the food arrive, I wanted to order the all day English Breakfast but they ran out of baked beans, so they do not serve it. Also, the eggs benedict were out of stock so I ordered the Linguine Alle Vongole (Clam Pasta) instead. ...

Simplicité Café

Image
Being the North kids, how often do we really go all the way to East Coast? Hence, we decided to try out one of the cafes since we are already there.   Mich is a really good tour guide, bringing me around as she has done detailed research on which bus to take, which bus stop that is nearer to alight and even the surrounding buildings. With her, I never have to worry about getting lost. She is surely a good cafe hopping buddy and we make a good duo, her in charge of doing the research and me in charge of taking photos. After the event, from 112 Katong, we walked to a bus stop to take a bus to our destination. According  to Mich's research from Google maps, we just have to alight at Ocean Apartments stop, and any bus can take us there.  However, it ended up we still have to walk a distance before reaching the cafes... BUT... if we did not take the longer way, we would not stumble upon this hidden gem... Heritage East Condominiums, beautifully painted in...

Mean Bean & Wicked Grind

Image
After sending cousin off at Goldenmile for her coach to Kuala Lumpur, we decided to go check out Mean Bean & Wicked Grind cafe which is nearby, at The Plaza. From Goldenmile tower, The Plaza is straight up and around 10 minutes walk away. It is also just opposite Haji Lane which is quite accessible for us to go Bugis as we planned to watch a movie after checking out the cafe.  Upon reaching The Plaza, we were a little unsure if we were at the right place as it does not seem like where cafes normally should be. The reviews were accurate, this cafe is quite hard to find > <  All the stores there were mostly furniture stores or travel agencies, hence, we decided to check with the information desk. Much to our surprise, the counter staff knew almost immediately where we wanted to go and gave us directions that it is straight up inside. HOW ULU!  We finally found the cafe! It is quite a small cafe with only two tables inside and a few outside. But the deco...

Old School Delights

Image
After much searching for a nice cafe at Upper Thomson for dinner, we finally settled on Old School Delights. A retro themed cafe featuring the many fun games and things we do in our primary school days, bringing back nostalgic memories.  The whole cafe is decorated like a classroom with chalkboards.  Spy the detention room and the feared detention master ' Facts board behind us: KFC used to be a high class place that used metal utensils I didn't know about that, but it was an interesting nugget to know. Each table has a notebook-like menu and mini whiteboard and marker for us to place our orders. While waiting for our food to arrive, we entertained ourselves with the old school games like old maid, snake and ladders, five stones, country erasers. All these are available on every table; in our very own OSD wooden box. Also there are the all time favorites, Archie comics and mangas that we enjoy reading in our teens. Mich ordere...

Dazzling Cafe

Image
Well, what is better than starting the month on a good note by stuffing my face with good food. 1 July 2015 marks the first day of my cafe hopping journey with my fellow food lovers friends. First stop for the day is the highly raved Dazzling Cafe originating all the way from Taiwan. The cafe is situated at Capitol Piazza, a relatively new mall which is connected to City Hall MRT, making it easily accessible. Totally a cafe where we can all find easily under the comfort of aircons. As I went on a weekday afternoon, there is no queue fortunately as I was expecting long waits up to an hour like what was featured in ClicknetworkTV.  The decor of the cafe gives off the posh and classy vibe as they made used of pastel blue tones and white to give off a clean look. The waitresses are also in cute maid apron costumes. It just makes me want to go in, chit chat with my girlfriends over a high tea session. Totally a place where girly girls would like and enjoy.  ...
