Switzerland Honeymoon: Lauterbrunnen & Mürren

Started our day with a hearty breakfast at Hotel Du Nord, our base for 2 nights in Interlaken.

View of our hotel in the morning as we arrived quite late at night the previous day

Our simple room, cute pillows that are folded to resemble the mountains

Enroute to Lauterbrunnen where we will be doing something exciting: Paragliding!

A really different view from what we have saw previously.

We arrived much earlier than our supposed meeting time and we decided to take a walk around the village

Everywhere is beautiful in Switzerland

It was quite a cold and windy day, and we were informed by the paragliding company that they were running late and also that there was a chance that we may be unable to fly due to bad wind. While waiting for them to get back to us, we decided to wait at a nearby cafe with a cup of warm coffee.

Finally after an hour, we received a call from the paragliding company that the pilot is on the way to fetch us. Before setting off, he gave us a briefing and told us that we need to prepare for a chance that we may not be able to fly, but we still decided to give it a try.

We had to take a gondola up to Mürren, a mountain village where we started our 15 minute hike up to our take-off point

We were lucky that we were equipped with winter hiking shoes (highly recommend Decathlon for good quality and affordable winter gear) as the snow was quite slippery

The view of the snowy village and mountains was worth the hike. The hike up was not easy as we came to a part where there was no proper path and I keep having this constant fear that one wrong step may cause me to slip and fall, I was afraid to even look back until I finished my climb.

A picture before we officially take-off! Initially, I was super scared as we had to run down the slippery snow in order to catch wind, my legs were trembling but I’m glad that I overcame my fear and ran and we managed to take flight!

Picture with my super experienced and friendly pilot, Dave from Airtime Paragliding. He even gave me a chance to try my hand at flying!

On the other side, Pigg flew with his pilot Thierry where they even tried doing mini somersaults in the air

It was quite a chill day as we did not have anything else planned after paragliding, we went for a late lunch at Horner Pub (as many restaurants are not opened during this period). We did not expect much from the pub but the food was really good!

Went to Staubbach Falls after, we can only see a small waterfall as it was soon Winter

After we are done with Lauterbrunnen, we headed back to Interlaken OST station for shopping at Droga Apotheke and COOP where we bought our dinner from the supermarket. Surprisingly, the chicken tasted really tender and the Parma ham pizza although simple tasted good as well.

As there are no Christmas markets during the period of time when we were there, we went back to our hotel after dinner before it got too dark
