South Korea: Jeju Day 1
It was finally time for our long awaited trip to South Korea! We had to cancel our trip back in 2020 due to Covid and fast forward three years later, we are on our way to Jeju!
Our flight to Jeju is via Scoot as it flies direct, it was a red eye flight but we liked it as we get to reach Jeju in the morning and have more time upon our arrival
Got to watch the sunrise on the flight 🌅
As we bought our tickets via Singapore Airlines, it included meals and blankets on board the flight. Although the meal wasn’t great, it was still nice to have some food.
Fast forward 7 hours and we have landed in Jeju Airport!
Picture with the Dol Hareubang is a must!
First order of business, we collected our rental car at Avis (SK Rent a car). We booked our rental in advance on Klook, The collection process is actually quite fuss free, there was a shuttle service that takes us direct which is a short ride from the airport. Our package only included basic insurance so we topped up an additional 4000 won for full protection.
Hyundai Avante was our ride for the next three days in Jeju! We had to check our car before moving on.
Pigg in the driver seat, first time trying left hand drive and driving overseas!
Our first stop - breakfast at Dongmun Traditional Market. Parking in Jeju is generally free of charge except when we parked at multi-storey carparks. We only paid for parking twice throughout our trip.
Lots of fresh seafood on sale
And many stores selling Hallabong and Tangerines, which are specialty of Jeju
We tried black pork takoyaki! Although we are eating at a market, prices in Jeju is not as cheap as I expected
Our first proper meal - Handmade clam noodles. Although the clams are small, the noodles are really bouncy!
Our next stop is Dodu-dong Rainbow Coastal Road
Colorful blocks with the blue sea in the backdrop
Jeju is known for its black volcanic rocks 🪨
Popped into a gift shop which sells all things Hallabong and Tangerine, had to try on the cute hats and sunglasses and pose for a picture
And of course we had to also buy a bottle of the Hallabong juice!
Our next stop - Iho Tewoo Beach
The beach is known for its red and white horse shaped lighthouse
We took a leisure stroll down the beach to see the lighthouses up close
The sun is so bright that it does not feel cold at all, I had to take off my hoodie as it felt so warm
We went to Aewol Cafe Street for some tea and cakes
Tea time at Bomnal Cafe
Lots of people kayaking in the clear blue waters
We raced and managed to catch the best sunset at Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road
So glad we could make it in time as the view was so worth it
We ended off our first day in Jeju at a black pork BBQ restaurant opposite our hotel
They even have Pigg’s favorite - cheese
Our first hotel in Jeju - Bluespring Boutique Hotel which is located right at Hyeopjae Beach. It is relatively OK for a one night stay just that it was a little creepy when the corridors lights were not switched on. We had a room overlooking the mountains, the view would be much better if it was overlooking the sea.
