Lola's Cafe

Last day to go out before starting my mugging on Sunday! Also finally get to go out with pigg after being stuck at home the last weekend since he was sick. We decided to have brunch at Lola's Cafe since had won the avocado eggs Benedict there from TheLocalHunter Instagram contest, so lucky! 

Since it's a Saturday, we had to wait for a while before we can get a table as they do not accept reservations on weekends. We had 8 people in front of us but the queue was relatively fast moving since Lola's had expanded to two stores. Their queue management was quite good too as there are benches to sit and wait and in the hot weather, there is a staff serving us iced water. 

Not bad, Lola's had expanded from the past year and I had been there for the third time now and I'm pleased with their service, somemore it's GST free! 

We did not mind sharing tables at the high table seating. However, the air con and fan was too strong there, we were both afraid of the cold and we did not want our food to get cold fast, so we requested to change to the lower table at the back.

We had this the previous time we came. The texture of the fries were just what I wanted, not too soft nor too hard and the cheese were also addictive. I think I ate too much that I became a little full before I even got to my main.


Pigg's Avocado Eggs Benedict
Compared to the eggs benedict that we had back at Flock Cafe which is tasteless, Lola's showed us a example of good eggs benedict which tastefully burst inside your mouth as you bite into it.  


I called for the breakfast butter croissant which was relatively good the previous time I ate it so I decided to order it again. It is also packed with generous serving of scrambled eggs, honey bacons and ham. 

We wanted to order dessert but as expected, we were quite full from the appetizer and mains. Hence we decided to go town to shop for Christmas presents and have dessert later. 

Scrolled through my camera roll and realised I still have the photos from my previous two trips to Lola's. Shall post them here too.









There are certainly a few hits and misses but more hits than misses. The beef stew that Pigg had that time which he think is a miss has been removed from the menu already. Overall, I still preferred Lola's Cafe brunch over their dinner.

Korea day 5

Time passes so fast when you are enjoying yourself. It is the fifth day in Korea. As usual, we packed up and left the resort in the morning to eat breakfast at the place we had our dinner the day before. I had quite a phobia that they will serve the fake "codfish" soup again as it does not taste nice at all. Luckily, the menu was beef stew soup but we do not eat beef so the soup was substituted with pork tonkatsu which is made with seafood. It does not taste appetising at all and I did not eat much as I am not used to eating rice for breakfast. I also hate having to eat mayonnaise with rice. It just tastes so...wierd...   After breakfast, we left for Everland. It opens at 9.30am but we reached there at about 10plus. We took a shuttle bus into the amusement park and took both group and solo photos at the entrance. Following that, we left to tour the park. Maki-San X Foodpanda

Literally rolled out of bed early for this Maki-San X FoodPanda event held at 112 Katong Maki-San's third outlet. Many thanks to Mich again for jio-ing me to this event since Paul could not make it  I've tried Maki-San once at their first Cathay outlet and I really enjoyed it and looked forward to rolling my own Makis at this event.  These days the trend is all about customization and insta-worthy food. Maki-San simply fulfill our need for novelty by allowing us to customize our very own makis with the toppings we like. Brown rice option is also available for the health conscious.  Really love the pretty and colorful packaging, which won several awards.  Even my friend brought home the boxes after eating > < Being early, we were the first to arrive at the event. Mean Bean & Wicked Grind

After sending cousin off at Goldenmile for her coach to Kuala Lumpur, we decided to go check out Mean Bean & Wicked Grind cafe which is nearby, at The Plaza. From Goldenmile tower, The Plaza is straight up and around 10 minutes walk away. It is also just opposite Haji Lane which is quite accessible for us to go Bugis as we planned to watch a movie after checking out the cafe.  Upon reaching The Plaza, we were a little unsure if we were at the right place as it does not seem like where cafes normally should be. The reviews were accurate, this cafe is quite hard to find > <  All the stores there were mostly furniture stores or travel agencies, hence, we decided to check with the information desk. Much to our surprise, the counter staff knew almost immediately where we wanted to go and gave us directions that it is straight up inside. HOW ULU!  We finally found the cafe!
