Bintan Day 1 | The Canopi & Treasure Bay Bintan

Finally it's D-day of our short Bintan getaway!
Time to board the ferry at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal!

And... Bintan is only a one-hour ferry ride from Singapore. Though the timezone there is one hour earlier than Singapore. I was napping during the journey and about to panic when Pigg asked me to look at the window, tricking me into thinking that it was raining outside. But luckily, it's only the water from the waves 🌊 The skies are clear and we are able to hit the beach!

Reached the Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal!

Pigg leading the way

We cleared the immigration relatively quickly and headed to our shuttle service which will bring us back to The Canopi Resort.

The Canopi Resort is only a 5 minutes ride away from the Ferry Terminal and we reached in no time.
Like typical resorts, we were greeted by the staff with complimentary welcome drinks upon our arrival.

3pm in Bintan and 4pm in Singapore, just nice we could check in! All the resort staff donned safari-like uniforms. We hurried with our check-in and proceeded back our room as we could not wait to check out the resort!

We were also given an orange RFID band which is waterproof. For any activities or payment within the resort, we could charge it to the band and settle payment upon checkout.

Our garden tent is located all the way at the end from the lobby. Not knowing that there is buggy service, we lugged our luggage all the way to our room. But the view on the way was fantastic, peaceful resort with the picture worthy tents, can't wait to get to our room!

Romantic sanctuary for couples alike

And... we finally reached our tent! Garden tent number 80!

Welcome to our room! So this is how glamping looks like!

The cozy poster bed. The room can actually sleep up to 4 people, with a sofa bed and pull out bed. But I feel that this resort is more suitable for couples rather than families.

The open concept toilet with a simple sink and shower

Without wasting more time, we quickly changed into our swimwear and it's time to explore the resort!

Found a swing in the middle of the garden and it felt as though I'm back to when I was a kid, jumping on every chance to play on the swing

Difference between how guys and girls play on the swing

On the buggy to the lobby!

Clear skies and sparkling water. Even though it's a man-made saltwater lagoon, it's still a sight to behold.

While waiting for the other buggy to fetch us to the slip n slide station

Armed with the GoPro, we are ready to slip n slide!

We had to climb 2-3 flights of stairs to reach the highest point

Pigg went first cos I'm was getting a little cold feet

And he tried again with the lower slide. Great shot captured by the GoPro when he was spun around in the tube

My turn! Screamed like crazy at the higher slide. Dumb me who forgotten that I had the life vest on me was struggling to stay afloat in the water when my tube capsized and covered me -.-

Pigg came to save me afterwards, even though its a man-made salt water lagoon, the water is really salty!

Decided to try again at the lower slide

The staff asked if I wanted to try spinning and after much hesitation, I agreed.

Actually spinning as I go down was not as bad and I managed to not scream this time round

We went a couple of times before we were a sick of it. Then we decided to just walk along the lagoon.

So happy as the weather was good!

Pigg decided to take a dip

Hope we can go on more trips like this!

My favorite picture of all time, wonders that a GoPro can do

Feels like we had the entire place to ourselves.
Here's a video that we made with Quik (a GoPro story video editing app)

We played around till the sun starts to set. After 5.30pm, there is not much activities going around in the resort as the sky gets dark real fast

And we managed to hitch a ride back to the lobby on the back of a buggy where we had to stand. Even though we are not supposed to, but it was a short ride and was fun though!

On our way back to our room, we decided to buy a pizza to temporarily fill our stomachs as we will be going for the fireflies tour at 7.30pm and can only have our BBQ dinner at 9pm

I'm always excited when I see food. The pizza tastes even amazing after the water activities

At 7.30pm the skies turned really dark and we were on our way to the mangrove for the fireflies tour. We would not have gotten this picture if not just nice the staff shone the torchlight at our way.

The fireflies tour was around 45 mins and we managed to see some fireflies, though not what I expect them to fly around in front of us. It was a little disappointing as there was not super a lot of fireflies and our boat got stuck for some time due to the choked motor.

When we returned back to our room, the fire was already started for us and we only had to BBQ the food ourselves.

Our table full of food! Pigg even set the ambience with some jazz music from Spotify.

Lucky to have a personal butler to cook for me 😘

Even though the food takes a while to cook, it is still a good experience as glamping is not complete without BBQ!

And that marks the end of our Day 1 in Bintan!
