L'eclair by Sarah Michelle
As usual, Pigg and I decided to celebrate Valentines early as we felt that everywhere would be crowded on the actual day. This year, to celebrate our fourth Valentines together, we went for high tea at L'eclair by Sarah Michelle.
Reservations have to be made in advance due to the limited seats and popularity of their high tea degustation sets. Initially, we wanted to go for the 2pm seating but it was fully booked and only high chairs facing the window was left. Therefore, we went for the 4pm seating.
We were a little late due to the rain but luckily, the staff were understanding enough and did not give up our seat to others.
The cafe is located at Singapore Shopping Centre (nearest MRT: Dhoby Ghaut) which is just opposite the Istana Park. A small yet cozy cafe which is popular among both couples and groups.

Lucky us also got the window seat where the light is good for photos!
Our high tea degustation set arrived not long after we were seated.
For just $50 nett for 2 persons, we get a 3-tier high tea set with choice of coffee or tea.

Couldn't keep my eyes off the pretty rose petal eclair
We started with the savories at the bottom tier
Bottom tier (left to right): Smoked salmon & dill mousse tartlet, Signature chicken & bacon pie, Tomato & basil bruschetta, Roasted mushrooms vol au vent.
I dug in to the smoked salmon & dill mousse tartlet first. The smoked salmon is blended into a puree and accompanied with a thin slice of zucchini. Savory yet not too heavy.
Tomato & basil bruschetta is basically diced tomatoes cubes, garnished with basil and olive oil served on a slice of toasted baguette. The bread is a little hard but the combination actually tastes quite refreshing.
I really loved the Roasted mushrooms vol au vent (which I forgot to take a close up picture of) as I was too busy in enjoying the small bite.
Moving on to the second tier! The assorted mini eclairs!
We had 3 CNY special eclairs: black sesame, bakkwa pork floss and mandarin orange and candied kumquats in addition to 2 signature eclairs.
Posing with the prettiest looking eclair
At first I was quite skeptical about the pork floss eclair, but it actually tasted not bad! The eclairs are also light and not overly sweet. I'm not really a fan of black sesame but I quite liked the sweet crispy cookies which goes well with the black sesame paste eclair.
Last but not least, the sweets!
Back to front: Passionfruit mousse & mixed berries pavlova, Raspberry macaron, Dark chocolate & hazelnut tartlet
Pigg holding the Passionfruit mousse & mixed berries pavlova with care as it is really fragile.
And this concluded our high tea experience at L'eclair by Sarah Michelle!
The servings were just nice for two and we were quite full after finishing even though we did not have lunch.
Will definitely revisit the cafe again if there are new additions or promotions.
