Som Tam

Its been a long time since I met up with the girls, the last meet up was near the end of August to celebrate Yun Qi's birthday and this time round is to celebrate Kimberlin's birthday. I decided that we should go to Som Tam at Orchard Central to reminisce on our Bangkok trip with some Thai food.

Magazine style inspired menu

Wings Phet Phet- Deep fried wings with spicy Tom Yum seasoning.

Enjoyed the wings a lot while it was hot and crispy. I realized that whenever we dine, we would always order wings. I would of course prefer wings over drumlets.

Ordered the Pad Thai that Kim have been craving for, so happy that I made the decision to come here. Although the pad thai was quite oily, it was still appetizing.

Pineapple Fried Rice- Safe choice but I do not really enjoy the taste of it since the rice is tossed in turmeric and thai curry.

Flying Fish- It is actually deep fried crispy mackerel in tom yum seasoning again. So crispy that we can eat it entirely like ikan bilis.

Som Tam gave us a complimentary cake since I told them that it was Kim's birthday. The staff are also very friendly even though I could see that they are quite understaffed since it took them quite some time to get us the water which we had requested for several times.

Even though the food was not authentic Thai food unlike what we had back in Bangkok, the bonding time we had together is what matters the most. No matter how busy we are, we still make the time and effort to celebrate and remember each other's birthday.
