Banana Tree

Image
Finally got to try Banana Tree at Keong Saik Road, a special and cute concept of bingsu and puddings in flower pots! Many thanks to Mich again for showing us the way, I did not know it was so accessible from Chinatown MRT station as it was a walkable distance. Originated from Korea, the store layout is simple and banana themed, sporting yellow and white giving it a clean look. The entire cafe is a very cozy and every inch of it is just so photoworthy Three of the tall tables also have wall murals that feature their signatures: Pot Bingsu, Flower Pot Pudding and Som Som Latte. The cute wall murals lets customers have a picture perfect time. The tall tables are really suitable for couples but it gets awkward taking pictures as they are situated just in front the counter  A look at their simple menu, quite helpful to have illustrations of the flower pot puddings. They just increased their prices though... the mini pot bingsu I ordered was $8.50 be...

Bonheur Patisserie

Image
I was never a fan a macaroons until I came across these cute cartoon macaroons at Pasarbella's Bonheur Patisserie, but I only bought two out of the many choices  (so hard to choose as all of them are so cute!) Cookie Monster (Cookies and Cream) I am really amazed at the taste of the macaroon, I feel that this cookie monster is not overly sweet and do not have a strong taste of artificial colorings, the colors are not that fake and look natural. In fact, I can really taste cookies and cream in it and I actually do not feel dry and thirsty after eating it.  Brown (Nutella)  Pigg said his Brown was a lil too sweet and the nutella is a bit too sticky Poor Brown had his Oreo stolen by Cookie Monster Brown's nose and Cookie monster's eyes are actually made of sweets which are edible.  Bonheur Patisserie also had a variety of other cartoon macaroons and even normal ones with different flavors which are quite interesting. Each cartoo...

Simplicité Café

Image
Being the North kids, how often do we really go all the way to East Coast? Hence, we decided to try out one of the cafes since we are already there.   Mich is a really good tour guide, bringing me around as she has done detailed research on which bus to take, which bus stop that is nearer to alight and even the surrounding buildings. With her, I never have to worry about getting lost. She is surely a good cafe hopping buddy and we make a good duo, her in charge of doing the research and me in charge of taking photos. After the event, from 112 Katong, we walked to a bus stop to take a bus to our destination. According  to Mich's research from Google maps, we just have to alight at Ocean Apartments stop, and any bus can take us there.  However, it ended up we still have to walk a distance before reaching the cafes... BUT... if we did not take the longer way, we would not stumble upon this hidden gem... Heritage East Condominiums, beautifully painted in...

Maki-San X Foodpanda

Image
Literally rolled out of bed early for this Maki-San X FoodPanda event held at 112 Katong Maki-San's third outlet. Many thanks to Mich again for jio-ing me to this event since Paul could not make it  I've tried Maki-San once at their first Cathay outlet and I really enjoyed it and looked forward to rolling my own Makis at this event.  These days the trend is all about customization and insta-worthy food. Maki-San simply fulfill our need for novelty by allowing us to customize our very own makis with the toppings we like. Brown rice option is also available for the health conscious.  Really love the pretty and colorful packaging, which won several awards.  Even my friend brought home the boxes after eating > < Being early, we were the first to arrive at the event. We were given each a nice foodpanda apron to wear so that we will not dirty our clothes.    Mich is like a panda after suffering from insomnia last night ...

Ikkousha Hakata Ramen

Image
Tell me who doesn't love 1-for-1?  Thanks to Mich, we downloaded the J Passport and got this great 1-for-1 Tonkatsu Ramen deal. Even better news is that this deal is a Ikkousha Day special that is available every 15th of the month! Yay to 1-for-1 ramen every month > <  Good things are meant to be shared, simply download this J Passport app at Google Play Stores or App Store to receive many exclusive Japanese deals After work with a hungry stomach, we headed down to CHIJMES outlet for our ramen dinner! So lucky that both outlets (CHIJMES and Tanjong Pagar) are nearby our office so we need not waste a lot of time travelling.  Upon reaching the Ikkousha Hakata and without saying much, the staff knew that we were here for the promotion > <  The restaurant is very modest and traditional like a typical Japanese Ramen restaurant you will find in Japan. It is so authentic that I felt that I was in Japan having ramen. The ordering steps...
